Traps: #3 coil spring How to set: 1. Dig a flat bottom trench ( 6 inches wise and 1 1/2 inches deep)parallel to the animal's line of travel. For fox dig a 26in trench. 2.Firmly place the grag hook in the center of the set. 3.Position one trap in each end of the trench. The spring, with the chain attached, should be parallel to the side of the tranch and the chain in the center of the trench. 4.Round out each end of the trench to snugly accommodate the jaws and then remove enough dirt to accommodate the springs. Be sure traps are solid because wobbly traps cause animals to dig. 5.Put a pan cover over the trap to keep dirt from going under the pan. 6.Cover the trap with sifted dirt and level the dirt. Chains and drags should also be covered. 7.Check the depth of dirt over the pans. If the trench was 1 1/2in deep , there should be 1/8-1/4in of dirt covering the pans. 8.Locate a scent post. This consits of dry, porous material about 3-4in high and 6-8in wide, which can be a piece of wood. 9.Place the scent post between the 2 traps and apply a teaspoon of raw coyote urine to the post, dont get it any where else. 10. Carry any excess dirt 30 yards away from the set. Animals caught in this set using a drag will run downhill and towards cover. They can be followed by watching for signs of dragging hook in the ground . Read more: trappinginamerica.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=coyotesets&thread=14#ixzz1j6gm3I00
